The Paradigm of Christ in Suffering
The apostle Peter in his First Epistle is addressing a diverse group of Christians which is experiencing tremendous suffering that comes in particular through the neighbor’s negative reaction to the Christian faith. It was rejection because Christians lived contrary to the social norms. They experienced cultural opposition, as well as verbal abuse, which was being used as a strategy to bring them back to their old lifestyle. The paradigm of Christ builds the heart of Peter's epistle and instructs the Christians to follow it as the right response to the trials, suffering and pressure.
